This weekend I had the opportunity to check out the last day of the Lotus Lantern Festival in Seoul – and I can definitely say it was impressive.
Held annually to celebrate Buddha’s birthday, this multi-day festival is a celebration of Korean tradition, light, and stunning colours. Originally, I had no intention of visiting it; I’ve been in asia for many years so lantern festivals are nothing new. It wasn’t until I was lounging in the grass at a beer festival that a few friends walked by (I love how small the world is) and we all left together to visit temples and see beautiful lanterns.
If you’re ever in Seoul early may, I definitely recommend heading into the middle of the city to check out all the sights, sounds, and tastes this festival has to offer. Happy Birthday, Buddha!
